My 2020 Campaign Issues
As your City Council member, I will bring executive leadership and fiscal responsibility to City Hall. The following are my top priorities:
Look for ways to increase city funds by diversifying our business community and maximizing revenues from our tourists. Maintain sustainable public finances by using my business background to ensure the city stays solvent.
Protect Open Spaces
Permanently protect open space, expand our public trail system and provide for beach access so that pedestrians, equestrians and bicyclists can safely enjoy our coastal resources. These efforts require that we balance individual property rights and with our legal obligations under the California Coastal Act.
Continue to propel Half Moon Bay forward as a leader in environmental sustainability. This includes: Solar, Single Use Plastics Ban, Water Catchment, Plastic Bottles Ban.
Initiate efforts to complete our city-wide Master Drainage Plan by including both the remaining drainage districts, Kehoe and Roosevelt.
Reduce Traffic Congestion
Take clear action to manage our traffic congestion, maintain our bridges and preserve our small-town charm.
Maintain our small-town charm by preserving our historic buildings while assisting businesses to thrive in our downtown core. Continue efforts to beautify our downtown.
We are continuing to research our options, such as community land trust options and feasibility, for affordable housing in Half Moon Bay as this is such an important issue in our community. We have worked hard with staff on tenant protection measures – many of which have been enacted.
Provide for more recreational and continuous learning opportunities for our children, seniors and in-betweens by making sure we fund Parks & Recreation and support innovative programming for the new Library. Continue to move forward on an outdoor performance venue at Carter Park.
Improve public safety through innovative Community Policing and by sponsoring joint activities such as a Coastside police sports league and beach cleanups.
Implement a General Plan that reflects the clearly stated priorities of our community, strengthens our core tourism-based economy, and prioritizes development in the downtown core.
